Huntington
The second-largest city in West Virginia, Huntington is at the extreme western part of the state, right on the Ohio border. It's a college town; the home to Marshall University. There's a lot of school spirit running through Huntington, particularly since the 2006 movie, “We Are Marshall” was filmed there. The movie chronicles the plane crash in 1970 that claimed the lives of 75 Marshall football players and coaches.
Huntington is a unique blend of art, history, athletics, and recreation. One of the oldest amusement parks in the nation is located in Huntington. Downtown Huntington is historic, with several buildings and monuments listed on the National Register of Historic Places. If you like architecture, you'll enjoy the Southern style as well as the art deco and craftsman buildings and bungalows all over the city.
