Lakewood
Lakewood Township, New Jersey, or simply Lakewood as it is commonly known, is a township located in Ocean County. Close to the banks of the Atlantic Ocean, Lakewood is a thriving community rich in Orthodox Jewish culture. The area that is now Lakewood was originally settled back in the mid 18th Century, and by the early 19th Century, was a haven for mining, ironworks, and agriculture. By the late 19th Century, the area was a popular resort destination for the wealthy and famous, and was a popular location for respite from New York City life. Today, Lakewood is home to just over 60,000 residents, and remains a popular destination for tourism.
