Manteca
Known to area locals as “The Family City,” Manteca, California is located in the state's Central Valley. Just east of San Francisco, and north of Modesto, Manteca's quiet suburban landscape is lined with palm trees and quaint California streets. Founded and settled by European Americans in the late 19th century, Manteca was incorporated as a city in 1918, and its population has been on the rise ever since. The high housing pricing in San Francisco have forced residents east into Manteca, and the city's 17 square miles is quickly growing. Historically agricultural, Manteca's current largest employers are the Manteca Unified School District and Kaiser Permanente. This rising suburb is just a short drive to the San Joaquin River National Wildlife Refuge, and is a great city for to enjoy natural beauty and a variety of amusement.
