Rome
Situated along the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, Rome is the largest city in, as well as the county seat, of Floyd County, Georgia. It is the chief city of the Rome, Georgia, Metropolitan Statistical Area. Rome is also the largest city within Northwest Georgia and the 19th largest city in the entire state. Rome was named after Italian city of Rome. The Rome in Georgia was built upon seven hills that had a river running between, a characteristic that was an inspiration for its name. This connection was further established by a 1929 gift from Italian dictator Benito Mussolini, of a replica of the statue of Romulus and Remus nursing from a mother wolf.
