Hopkins
Hopkins, Minnesota, only takes up four square miles of space, but there’s never a shortage of things to enjoy. While it may be considered a suburb of Minneapolis, Hopkins has its own Center for the Arts; plenty of seasonal activities like swimming and ice skating; and a population committed to culture, entertainment, and economic development. Naturalists love the city for its trails, creeks, lakes, and opportunities for biking, fishing, and hiking. The one event not to be missed is the annual Raspberry Festival, which happens every July and attracts volunteers and visitors from all over Minnesota.
Pack your boots and your heavy coat if you plan to visit Hopkins in the winter. Temperatures are known to drop below zero, and none of the locals are surprised when it starts snowing. Cold temperatures and icy conditions can stretch right into the spring as well, which is great for ice fishing and brisk walks along the city’s Main Street and parks.
