Lancaster
Just 33-miles from Columbus, Ohio is the city of Lancaster. Rich with Native American history, Lancaster was first explored in the mid 18th Century, but the city was not established until 1800, before Ohio was formally established as a state. Formal incorporation of Lancaster occurred in 1831, and development and growth began to flourish. Agriculture has long been an important part of the area, and with the Hocking Canal and Ohio and Erie Canal in close proximity, agriculture has flourished in the area for generations.Today, Lancaster is a fine mixture between the remaining 19th Century architecture and history, and all the modern conveniences a city with nearly 40,000 residents could need. Rich with educational institutions including Ohio University, and large corporations including Anchor Hocking, Lancaster is a great place for individuals and families to visit or settle down.
