Jacksonville
A city in Onslow County, North Carolina, Jacksonville is the 14th largest in North Carolina. Because it has a large military presence, it is the youngest city in the United States, with an average age of 22.8 years. In fact, the United States Marine Corps' Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune and Marine Corps Air Station New River are both located there. The land was settled in the 1700s, which caused the forced removal of many Native Americans. Later, the land continued to rely on industries like naval stores, lumber, and tobacco crops.
