Fairfax
The mellow town of 7,500 residents is a quiet town with a mood all its own. While industrious students will not find any colleges in the community, they find many outstanding opportunities located within the county. Some hardworking students head 15 miles to the southeast to Marin Community College where they have the outstanding opportunity to pursue a large number of two-year programs. Other industrious students head 3.5 miles to San Rafael where they study hard at the small historic Dominican University of California where they study to be the next generation of business leaders, the newest world-famous artists, California’s best teachers, and the most caring nurses. Still, others head to beautiful San Rafael to study harmonizing Indian music at the Ali Akbar College of Music. Many dedicated students in beautiful Fairfax choose to attend the Southern Baptist’s Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary, the consortium at Graduate Theological Union or the Presbyterian’s San Francisco Theological Seminary with a desire to reach the world for Christ.
Wholesome Fairfax is unique in that it is unlawful to operate any chain business in this city. Therefore, the old historic downtown area is filled with small businesses. This gives the city a young energetic vibe not found in many areas. Many residents also work at other businesses within the county. More than the average enterprising residents also work from their homes.
